Anthony Shoals has advocates

Citizens calling themselves the Anthony Shoals Preservation Group has been organizing in recent months to protect the area from possible threats from Broad River Valley Farms on River Road.

The citizens gathered at the Elbert County Library Thursday said they believe the farm is not being properly operated, partially because of odors coming from the facility.

“I’m opposed to the landfill on the north end of the county and I’m opposed to what’s going on down there on the south end of the county, which is nothing but a liquid landfill,” said Casey Freeman, a District 2 County Commission candidate who attended the meeting.
