The Housing Authority of the City of Elberton asked for and received permission to purchase surplus city property at three locations “to provide homeownership opportunities to low to moderate income families in the future.”
The city council agreed to sell the three properties to the housing authority for $12,000.
D. Bruce Herring, Executive Director of The Housing Authority of the City of Elberton, said in a letter to the city council that the “desire of the Elberton Housing Authority is to keep acquisition and construction costs as low as possible in order to be able to serve more individuals and families moving forward.”
