Celebrating what SafeHouse Ministries considers its “23rd anniversary of ‘Victory Over Violence,’ the organization will have a 5K Race/Walk-a-Thon Saturday, Nov. 3 as a kickoff for next weekend’s Granite City Fall Festival.
“Our resources are stretched exceptionally thin,” said SafeHouse Ministries’ Sue Beitzel last week. “It is only through the grace of God that we have managed our operations.”
In the past year Beitzel said the organization has serviced more people with food, furniture, clothing and assistance than ever before.
“We are thankful for the donation of the former Coca-Cola building and the many donated repairs which have been completed on that building,” said Beitzel. “This amazing facility now houses our operations center which includes our offices, food bank and resource center for those in need. We desperately need help to replenish the coffers. This year’s fundraiser will allow us to be able to continue our mission by doing God’s work through providing food, shelter, clothing and counseling when needed.”
